Weekend Whipper: Busted Flake on “Desperados” (5.12d)

Samuel almost snags a send here, but some brittle rock takes him for a plunge.

By Rock and Ice | August 17th, 2018

This week’s whipper comes from the Coliseum in East Sooke Park, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Our friend Samuel blazes up the face of the 4-bolt burner Desperados (5.12d), and through the pumpy crux, only to be foiled when a hold blows.

There aren’t many valid excuses you can drop when someone asks why you didn’t send, but broken rock is definitely one of them.

Happy Friday, and climb safe this weekend!
