METOLIUS WOOD GRIPS TRAINING BOARD ($89)
This wood board is the most elegant of the lineup, more closely resembling a handcrafted piece of furniture than a finger flogger. For that reason alone, many testers favored it, saying it would be the least obtrusive board to mount in the boudoir. As you might expect, the wood is on the smooth side. As you wouldn’t expect, that’s a plus, allowing you to hang from the drilled slots until your muscles, rather than skin, fail. Though overly simple with mostly flat, horizontal finger slots, the wood board is surprising functional, if “too easy,” noted one tester. The full-hand sloper is comfortable enough to dangle from all day (but not quite easy enough to), and a pair of outside jugs let you rip off the reps until your biceps detach. As a final touch, the board’s outside holds cant inward—when you pull up, you also pull slightly in, engaging your pecs and latissimus dorsi.
BEEFS: Limited hold variety.
BEST FOR: Endurance workouts, warm-ups, or flog sessions when your skin is already trashed.
IF ONLY IT HAD: A one-pad sloper, greater hold variety and a pinch.
