This 30-square-foot tent is bomber in winds, dry in snow and rain. It sets up easily with color-coded sleeves and poles—something other tent makers should copy. Sixteen reflective guy lines strengthen this tent and lessen the night-time trip factor. The Mountain is a very livable tent. Ventilation is good, with top vents and vestibule vents. In warm, bugless weather or when you just need shade, you can pitch the fly and poles, and bask open-air on the ground. The yellow color of the tent’s main body is visible in dim light, and warm and cheery. The front-poled vestibule is great for storing gear.

For lightweight, bug-free camping you can leave the tent at home and just take poles, fly and footprint. The Achilles heel of this tent is its traditional set-up-the-tent-first, then-add-the-fly design. In rain or wet snow the tent body can get soaked. Also, wrestling a snapping fly over the tent in sub-freezing temps and high winds is difficult.

Pros: Strong in winds and dry in snow and rain. In mild conditions you can use just the fly and poles. Good price.

Cons: Tent body can get wet when being pitched in foul weather.
