La Sportiva Levanto Short

Consider these as an option for cragging this summer.

MSRP: $59.00

BEST FOR: Summer cragging and gym climbing

The La Sportiva Levanto Short trend on the longer side—they seem to flirt with the idea that they should be knickers instead. With that being said, after wearing them, La Spo’s thought process behind the design is clear.

The stretchy cotton allows for a highly breathable product that is good for often under-ventilated gym situations. The 11” inseam doesn’t allow for that dreaded harness creep, which can make those sessions of sussing it out more brutal than they need to be. The elastic band and drawstring belt provide minimal bunching under the harness.

In the instance of any inversion or even high stepping, don’t expect anything to stay in the pockets, so maybe leave your smart phone on the ground. Overall, this is a fine product from La Sportiva that is good for the gym or the crag, especially if you are not a fan of showing off too much skin.

Rock and Ice vigorously tests all gear it reviews for either 50 days or 50 pitches. This is a time-consuming process and limits the amount of new equipment we can present to our readers. Every year hundreds of new products hit store shelves, and most of these aren’t reviewed due to our stringent selection and review process. To better keep you more up to date on what is new, we present First Look. Gear in First Look has not always been field tested, but is gear we think you’d like to know about as soon as it is available. Some of the gear will be reviewed using our 50 days/50 pitches criteria, in future print and online editions of Rock and Ice.
