The Magnum doesn’t have any one thing that sets it apart, but it is a solid, well-made performer with all the features you need. The contoured, padded shoulder straps are comfortable and a folded design secures enough gear and supplies for marathon sessions. The deck is sheathed in rugged auto carpet, and the meaty 4.5 inches of padding, which is on the medium-stiff side, works well for high- and low-ball falls. Metal hooks and straps tie up the folded pad. My only beef, one which is symptomatic of all folded pads, is that the foam creeps around and bunches up.
