Stride Health: Alex Honnold’s Urban Ascents

By Rock and Ice | June 18th, 2014

In this health insurance commercial, Alex Honnold, the king of free-soloing, climbs sculptures on Crissy Field, chimneys up the hundred-year-old Palace of Fine Arts and ends with the ascent of a very tall building while San Francisco watches in utter confusion. This video also gives some insight into the mind of Honnold. Why buildings? Because it’s “more exciting.”

“I spend so much more time on rock where it’s so natural to me, whereas with buildings it’s much more of an adventure … I don’t have that much experience climbing up buildings, so it’s more exciting.”
