By Rock and Ice | May 21st, 2014

Action Directe was the first 5.14d in the world. Established in 1991 by the legendary Wolfgang Gullich, the powerful Frankenjura testpiece remains a benchmark for the grade of 9a. In episode 2 of Reclimbing the Classics, the young bouldering powerhouse Jan Hojer traces Gullich’s path that eventually left the world with perhaps its most iconic sport climb.
